Day 8 - January 6th, 2009 - Sea Day #4

Well it’s our last full day on the ship and the biggest thing to look forward to at this point is the “Legends” show tonight. Both Ben and Michelle will be performing in it. Ben as Sir Elton John and Michelle as Gloria Estafan

We got up in time for lunch again in the Empire dining room. We me Javiere and his lady in line and sat at a window seat with two other elderly couples. Good time, we just ate and talked.

After Lunch we headed out looking for the “Gang”, if you haven’t figured out who they are by now, it’s Richard, Ben, Michelle & Ana, and whomever they are hanging with. :)

We found Richard in the Fountain Cafe playing trivia games. So we stayed and played for a while. We came so close to winning “Name those lyrics”. By that time Michelle had joined us too. . .

It’s our last day and we haven’t even gone swimming in the Ship’s pool yet!! We are less than 300 miles from Port and it’s about 60 degrees outside (13 deg c in Canadian :) ) the wind is blowing 6 mph. Well about 20 mph with the ship’s speed and wind chill makes it pretty chilly in the shade. But we decided we must experience swimming in the middle of the ocean. So we got changed and headed up to the Lido Deck. .

Now we had dipped our foot in the pool once or twice and the water felt pretty nice. For those of you who don’t know, they pump water from the ocean up into the pools. Water is a precious resource on a boat, so they aren’t going to waste clean water on us dirty passengers.

Now we are assuming it’s much like the little kiddie pools back at home. When you want to clean it, you simply empty it out and fill it back up. Of course the water is freezing until the sun warms it up. Well, we think they just cleaned the pool. It was $!%&*%!$ freezing!!! “Lisa couldn’t bring herself to get in, but she was okay with me pushing her in, so I did!!” :) The swimming lasted for about 60 seconds (that’s a minute in Canadian) and we promptly got out and ran to the Hot tub!!! Heaven!!

We went back to our stateroom, showered and got ready for the rest of the night. We got most of our packing done. We had brought an extra bag to bring our souvenirs back and still we managed to get everything into fewer bags. Crazy!!

On our bed were our luggage tags for disembarkation as well as instructions. We were in group #11 to leave the ship. . Now disembarkation was to start at 8:30am and our plan was scheduled to leave at 1:05pm. The paperwork said we could get a #2 if we had an early flight, so we went to the Purser’s desk and received new tags. Then it was time for dinner

We headed down to the Empire room for dinner, but we were a little early. We ran into Brandie, one of the people we met while playing trivia in the Fountain cafe. She was with her fiance. She had told us that he proposed on Saturday. She also had told us he had been really sick the whole trip, so when we shook hands after meeting, Daniel suggested that we go wash our hands. . .

Guess who we ran into? Yep, Anastasia. . She was heading to dinner. . We told her we would find her for dinner.

After getting back to the Empire room, we found the gang and joined them for dinner. . We pulled up a chair and had a great dinner.

After dinner, we headed to the Legends Show. . . Which proved to be the best show of the cruise. . . .

La La La La La

Ben Feldman as Elton John

Michelle Meyer as Gloria Estafan

It was a fun show. . . .

After the show we headed out and got some pictures of the rest of the cast.

Ben, being the comedian he is said something funny and Lisa just laughed it off. . . Just kidding Ben!!!

Afterwards, we called it a night and spent a few hours working on the blog. . . Thanks Ana for the River Rafting pics.

P.S. Remember when we snuck down to our table-mates room and added to their breakfast food order? Well we decided to do the same thing to Ana, except she didn’t order any food so we took ours and put it on her door. We knew she had to get up early, so we had it delivered between 6:00am–6:15am. . . HA HA HA HA HA
